Medical technology
Health has a form
We are ageing later and want to live long, fulfilling lives – but mobility restrictions, declining senses or the effects of illness can stand in the way of this desire. Medicine is responding to this with ever higher standards. All these medical offerings need non-stigmatising product design. When describing medical aids, we prefer to use terms such as “support” or “augmentation”. After all, it is not about alleviating an illness or disability with the help of a prosthesis, but about providing modern support for different abilities. And all this for people who have grown up with the design level of modern consumer electronics. Designing medical products is therefore not about repairing deficits, but about empowering people.
